Dutch Schouw Yacht

このボートについて
This is 'De Groene Draek' a Dutch Schouw yacht. She is scratchbuilt from drawings in a book called 'Ronde en Platboden Jachten' which I bought in Barcelona forty odd years ago. She is 30" long with 9" beam. She is shown here on the 'quayside' as travel restrictions in Wales preclude me from launching her for the moment.

Cheers, Nerys
So, if I added a removable keel, and covered the open areas with clear plastic, it could go a sailing.
Any ideas?
Ian
Cheers Marky👍
You have done a really fantastic job on her.
I am looking forward to see her in the water as much as you are.
Hopefully very soon.

The shop in Barcelona was selling nautical books in all sorts of languages. I bought another on Dutch craft at the same time and another in English/American on traditional craft of the American. Eastern sea board.
Incidentally I saw the royal De Groene Draek in Amsterdam some years ago.
Cheers, Nerys
But don't she have the wrong colour sails for a 'Green Dragon'?😉
"which I bought in Barcelona"
Natch! Doesn't EVERYONE go to Barcelona to buy their books on Round and Flat Bottom (😮) Dutch yachts?🙄
Hope you get to sail her very soon🤞
Cheers, Doug 😁😎
Pic shows Green Dragon in 1959 with Princess Beatrix aboard.
"De Groene Draeck (English: The Green Dragon) is a royal yacht of Beatrix of the Netherlands. It was named after the flagship of Piet Hein, a famous 17th century Dutch admiral.
De Groene Draeck is a traditional Dutch round bottomed sailing ship, built in 1957 in Amsterdam. She was offered by the Dutch people to the then Princess Beatrix for her 18th birthday.[1] Her sail number is therefore VA 18.
The ship is regularly used by the Royal Family for sailing. The ship is usually moored in Muiden. "
